Jacob deGrom
1st P to have more RBI (5) than ER (4) in any 10-start span of an MLB season
Jacob deGrom continued to add to his otherworldly season in his 10th start against the San Diego Padres. The two-time NL Cy Young Award winner scattered a single hit over six scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts. With this effort, Jacob is now the fastest pitcher to reach 100 strikeouts in a single season since the mound was moved to 60-feet and 6-inches in 1893. The New York Mets ace accomplished this in just 61 and 2/3 innings pitched. With his bat, deGrom clubbed a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth inning to raise his RBI total to five on the year. He is the first pitcher to have more RBI than ER allowed four in a 10-start span since RBI became recognized by MLB in 1920.
