Tom Seaver, the ace of the New York Mets staff, led the club to a 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the first game of their May 11, 1972, doubleheader matchup. Seaver's eight-inning performance earned him his 100th career win, as he only allowed one run on five hits and fanned six batters in the process. "Tom Terrific" improved his record to 5-1 that day, ultimately finishing the season 21-12, his third career 20-plus win season.
