Fernando Tatis Jr.
28 HRs BEFORE MLB® ALL-STAR GAME® BREAK MARKS SHORTSTOP RECORD
San Diego San Diego Padres
In the bottom of the fourth inning in the matchup between the San Diego Padres and the Washington Nationals, Fernando Tatis Jr. clubbed his 28th home run of the 2021 season. Fernando turned on a 96-mph fastball, delivered from Max Scherzer, with an exit velocity of 113.3 mph and a projected distance of 433 feet for a towering solo shot. With this blast, Tati Jr. now owns the record for most longballs for a shortstop before the All-Star break. He is also the first player in the history of the franchise to have 20 homers and 20 stolen bases before the All-Star break.
