Adam Wainwright fired his 27th career complete game and 11th shutout in Wednesday night's contest between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Brunswick, Georgia, hurler scattered just two hits, allowed no runs and struck out seven batters over the course of his 88-pitch gem. At age 39 years and 346 days, Wainwright is the oldest pitcher to twirl a complete-game shutout on 88 pitches or less since pitch counts began being recorded in 1988.
