Sergio Perez became the first Mexican to take a podium on home soil with his third-place finish at the Formula 1 Gran Premio De La Ciudad De México. In front of his home crowd, Perez pulled off one of his best drives. Starting P4, Perez took his chance on the first lap and passed Bottas to get into P3. He became the first Mexican to lead a home Grand Prix at one point and was gaining on Lewis Hamilton as the chequered flag waves. It was his third consecutive podium finish – the first time he has done this in his career.
