Sergio Perez

Sergio Perez enjoyed an impressive weekend by taking pole position and then victory in the FORMULA 1 SAUDI ARABIAN GRAND PRIX 2023. After a fantastic qualifying session, in which the Mexican secured pole position, the race was Perez's to lose. An early duel with Fernando Alonso was curtailed by a time penalty for the Spaniard and the Oracle Red Bull Racing car's impressive speed. With Alonso behind him, Perez set about securing a commanding lead. A safety car could have derailed lesser drivers but Perez handled it well and re-secured the lead holding off a late challenge from teammate Max Verstappen. It was Perez's fifth career victory and puts him right into the FIA Formula 1 World Championship™ mix.
