The 25-year-old hurler from San Francisco, California, scattered just three hits and fired five innings of two-run ball and struck out a career-high 11 batters. With this effort, Ryan became the first pitcher in Twins franchise history to strike out 11 or more batters in five or less innings. Joe also strung together a span of seven consecutive strikeouts, marking the most for a Twins rookie.
