After making the first Postseason appearance of his Major League Baseball career in Game 2 of the ALDS between the New York Yankees and the Cleveland Guardians, Nestor Cortes was called to start in Game 5. During his five-inning-long stint on the mound, Cortes whiffed three Guardians batters while allowing just one run. As a result, Cortes was awarded with the first Postseason win of his Major League Baseball career, sending the Bronx-based Club onward to the ALCS.
