Rickey Henderson

Famously, Rickey Henderson is one of the best base runners in Major League Baseball history and on this day Henderson broke the single-season, stolen-base record when he nicked his 119th of the 1982 campaign. The historic steal came in a meeting between his Oakland Athletics and the Milwaukee Brewers, which Henderson's Club lost, 5-4. Remarkably, Henderson would go on to steal 11 more bases by the season's end, which is the highest single-season tally in the modern era to this day.
