Despite hitting just over 100 home runs in about three years, Pete Alonso had never hit a grand slam until last night. Saturday's meeting between the New York Mets and Washington Nationals was fiercely competitive, but in the fifth inning, Alonso broke the stalemate by hitting the first grand slam of his career. The Tampa, Florida, native was jubilant after his bases-clearing blast, and for good reason, as his grand slam powered his Mets on to a 5-0 win.
