Houston Astros starter Justin Verlander continued his outstanding 2022 campaign on Saturday evening, earning his MLB-leading 13th victory while taking on AL West rivals, the Seattle Mariners. The 39-year-old allowed just one run over seven solid innings, striking out nine batters thanks to the help of a very potent fastball. The nine-time MLB All-Star dialed his velocity up to 99 MPH deep into his outing, becoming just the second pitcher aged 39 or older to hit that mark in the pitch-tracking era (Billy Wagner, 2010).
