Becoming the first American League player in the modern era to record a jaw-dropping four home runs in a single game, Yankees first baseman Lou Gehrig had one of the most exciting at-the-plate performances in Major League Baseball history when his Club topped the Oakland Athletics, 20-13. Gehrig, in the history of professional baseball, was just the third to accomplish this feat, behind only Bobby Lowe and Ed Delahanty in 1894 and 1896, respectively.
