JULY 5, 1934 — The stage was set for an early July classic between the New York Yankees and the Washington Senators in the Bronx. Lou Gehrig led the charge for the Bronx Bombers with a 4-for-4, seven-RBI performance in their 8-3 victory. "The Iron Horse" got his day started in the third inning with an inside-the-park grand slam. Gehrig followed up in the fifth inning with a two-run blast over the right-field wall.
