In a 4-3 win over the San Diego Padres on Saturday night, Washington Nationals designated hitter Nelson Cruz made history by collecting his 2000th career hit, becoming the first player to so in a Nationals uniform. The 18-year veteran is one of just six active players to accomplish such a feat and joins Hall of Famer Tony Pérez as the second player in franchise history to reach the 2,000-hit milestone while with the team.
