In yesterday afternoon’s contest between his Pittsburgh Pirates and the Atlanta Braves, rookie shortstop Oneil Cruz connected with a pitch from Braves hurler Kyle Wright to notch the hardest-hit ball in Statcast history at 122.4 miles per hour. Although the ball was close to going over the right-field wall, it bounced off of it and was only good for a single. Cruz, who already made headlines for recording a 98.7-mph infield throw earlier this season, proved his two-way strength in yesterday’s 14-2 loss to the Braves.
