Before last night’s meeting between the New York Mets and the Colorado Rockies, the Mets honored Willie Mays during the franchise’s first Old-Timers Day celebration since 1994. Mays, who played his final two seasons in Major League Baseball with the Mets, had his number 24 retired permanently by the New-York-based franchise. The ceremony was just the beginning of the celebration for Mets fans, for the Club took home a 3-0 victory in the contest that followed.
