In last night's contest between his Oakland Athletics and the Washington Nationals, Dermis Garcia belted the first home run of his Major League Baseball career. The milestone longball was struck in the third inning off Washington starter Erick Fedde and sent over the left-center-field wall. This two-run blast was not only a personal accomplishment, but also helped his Club climb back from the four-run deficit they faced at the beginning of the inning en route to their eventual 10-6 victory.
