Just two days after breaking his New York Mets single-season RBI record, Pete Alonso hit the 40th home run of his 2022 Major League Baseball campaign, becoming the first player in franchise history to record multiple 40-plus-home-run seasons. This franchise-history making home run, which was belted in the fourth inning of last night’s bout with the Miami Marlins, was sent well over the left-field wall and scored three. Unfortunately, Alonso’s historic blast wasn’t enough to secure a victory for his Mets, as they took home a 6-4 loss.
