Mitch Garver

Sometimes, World Series heroics come from unexpected players. That was the case for Texas Rangers World Series Game 5 designated hitter Mitch Garver. The seven-year player collected the biggest hit of his career, plating the game-winning run with a single up the middle in the seventh inning. It’s the first time a go-ahead RBI happened in the seventh inning or later of a scoreless contest with a chance to win the Fall Classic since the San Francisco Giants did it in Game 5 of the 2010 World Series. “We overcame so much and we’re standing here as champions,” Garver said after the final out.
