In his first game pitching for the Texas Rangers since being traded by the New York Mets, the three-time Cy Young Award winner was lights-out. The hurler went six innings, recording nine strikeouts in a 5-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs. Scherzer’s nine punchouts are the fifth-most by a Rangers player in their Club debut and the most since Jamie Moyer notched 13 strikeouts in 1989.
