At the bottom of the third inning in the Detroit Tigers game against the Minnesota Twins yesterday, the two-time American League MVP Award winner cracked a hard-hit grounder through a gap between shortstop and second base. It marked the 40-year-old’s 3,142nd career hit, passing Yount for sole possession of 19th on the League’s all-time hits list. Next up for the slugger is Pirates legend Paul Waner with 3,152.
