The Angels selected Nolan Schanuel as their first-round pick (11th overall). Last night, the 21-year-old delivered a one-out single over the leaping Tampa Bay Rays shortstop in the seventh inning to reach first base, picking up the first hit of his big-league career. The fresh-faced infielder made additional history by taking part in his Club’s first triple play since 1977.
