Facing fellow Cy Young Award contender Ranger Suárez, Skubal came out on top by firing seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits, walking one, and striking out seven in the 4-1 win. He joins Denny McLain as the only Tigers pitchers with a sub-2.50 ERA, 100+ Ks, and fewer than 20 BBs in their first 16 starts of a season.
