Ben Joyce threw gas in the Angels win over the Kansas City Royals, 9-5. The flamethrower faced Royals star Bobby Witt Jr. with two outs in the ninth inning. Joyce tossed a 104.8 mph heater by Witt, the second-fastest pitch of the year and followed up with a 104.5 mph swinging strike. The hurler slowed it down on his last pitch, firing a 103.2 mph laser for the strikeout. Joyce's punchout was the first under the pitch tracking era (since 2008) of three whiffs on three pitches of at least 103 mph.
