Ben Joyce joined the 105-mph club in historic fashion on Tuesday. Against the in-state rival Los Angeles Dodgers, the Angels relief pitcher fired a 105.5 mph fastball to record a strikeout. It wasn't just the fastest pitch in MLB this season, but also the quickest for a punchout in the pitch-tracking era (2008). Joyce joins fellow fireballers Aroldis Chapman and Jordan Hicks as the only pitchers to throw pitches of at least 105 mph in that time.
