In just his second career start, pitcher Samuel Aldegheri accomplished something not seen in Baseball in 75 years. The 22-year-old southpaw didn’t just pick up his first career win against the Texas Rangers on Friday, he became the first Italian-born pitcher to earn a victory in a MLB game since 1949 (Marino Pieretti). Aldegheri allowed one run and struck out seven over six innings. "It was, for sure, something I was looking to accomplish," Aldegheri said of his first win. "I did it, so it feels really great."
