Tarik Skubal crafted one of the best pitching campaigns in Detroit Tigers history in 2024. His 18 wins were the most by a Tigers hurler since Max Scherzer in 2014 and his 2.39 ERA was the lowest by a qualified Detroit starter since Mark Fidrych in his incredible 1976 rookie season (2.34). Add in an MLB-best 228 strikeouts, and you get a season in which Skubal unsurprisingly won both the American League pitching Triple Crown and AL Cy Young Award. He took home the latter on his 28th birthday.
