Knotted at 1-1 through the first eight innings, the Athletics lineup needed to break through and pull away from divisional foes, the Texas Rangers. After a two-run homer from Brent Rooker provided some breathing room, a grand slam blast from Lawrence Butler put the game on ice. This was a special homer, being the first grand slam of Butler’s MLB career.
