Entering the bottom of the fifth inning, the Red Sox were down 2-1 to the Dodgers. After Steve Pearce walked with the bases loaded to make it 2-2, J.D. Martinez singled on a line drive to right fielder Yasiel Puig. The line-drive single scored Mookie Betts and Andrew Benintendi, giving the Red Sox a 4-2 lead. That would be the final score in Game 2 of the World Series and give Boston a 2-0 series lead.
