Pete Alonso became the fastest rookie in Major League history to reach 50 home runs, doing so in just his 125th game on August 28, 2019. The slugging first baseman also set a Mets rookie record with 53 home runs on the season, breaking Darryl Strawberry's previous mark of 26. Alonso's power surge helped lead the Amazin's to the postseason and earned him the National League Rookie of the Year honors.
