AUGUST 21, 1977 — In Terrific Tom's return Shea Stadium, the Mets faithful gave the team's former ace a warm, standing ovation. But after the brief honor, it was all business for Seaver. The right-hander dominated his former team, retiring 11 Mets batters on strikes, allowing just one run in a complete game effort, which led the Reds to a resounding 5-1 win.
