APRIL 15, 2000 — After his previous season ended prematurely, Cal Ripken Jr. entered the 2000 campaign just nine hits shy of reaching the 3,000-hit plateau. Having a knack for the dramatics, Cal became the 24th member of the 3000-hit club as part of a three-hit day vs. Minnesota.
