Cal Ripken Jr.
Ends consecutive-games streak with historic break
Cal Ripken Jr. - 2022 MLB TOPPS NOW® Turn Back The Clock - Card 174 - PR: 547
Cal Ripken Jr.'s incredible 2,632 consecutive-games streak is truly one for the ages, spanning more than a decade-and-a-half of perfect attendance. On this day in 1998, however, Ripken Jr. put the streak to bed after sitting a game out between his Club and the New York Yankees. Ripken's streak was more than 500 games longer than second place in the consecutive appearance race, with Lou Gehrig having played 2,130 consecutive games, which Ripken broke three years before ending his streak.
