AUGUST 30, 1988 — Kent Tekulve became a scoreless seventh inning in the Tuesday night matchup between the Philadelphia Phillies and the San Francisco Giants. The 6-foot-4 reliever spectacularly allowed just one hit and fanned a single batter to record his seventh hold of the season. With this outing, Tekulve became the second player in MLB history to appear in at least 1,000 career games.
