APRIL 18, 1955 — Although it may have been a small footnote at the end of the boxscore that next day, the New York Giants 12-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on April 18, 1955, did feature one very special moment – the first big-league home run from Roberto Clemente. The 20-year-old outfielder went 2-for-4 in this game, and it was in the fifth inning when he laced a ball to left field and sprinted all the way around to home plate for his first homer.
