In the 2001 season finale between the San Diego Padres and the Colorado Rockies, 60,103 fans packed Qualcomm Stadium to see Tony Gwynn, also known as "Mr. Padre", play the final game of his 20-year career. The near-capacity crowd also witnessed another historical moment, as Rickey Henderson became the 25th player to join the 3,000-hit club. In Henderson's first at-bat of the game, he lofted a perfectly placed blooper down the right-field line for a stand-up double, marking career hit number 3,000 for the 10-time MLB All-Star.
