OCTOBER 8, 1995 — Headed into the bottom of the 11th inning trailing 5-4 to the New York Yankees in Game Five of the ALDS, the Seattle Mariners turned to the top of their batting order to salvage one last opportunity. Following base hits by Joey Cora and Ken Griffey Jr., Edgar Martinez stepped up to bat against Jack McDowell with a chance to win the game. The 32-year-old smoked a line drive down the left-field line for a walk-off, two-run double.
