APRIL 3, 1966 — Tom Seaver signed with the New York Mets after his initial contract with the Atlanta Braves was voided. The Mets, Phillies and Indians entered a special lottery draft for the chance to sign Seaver, with the “Amazin’s” coming away with the prized right-hander.
