Nelson Cruz's monster day at the dish all began in the top of the second inning with the bases loaded. Nelson crushed a ball just right of the right-field foul pole, inches away from a grand slam. On the ensuing pitch, Cruz was able to capitalize on the opportunity by scorching a 377-foot line drive that just got over the left-field wall, this time earning a grand slam. Cruz continued to rake, adding another 418-foot solo bomb in the fifth inning and finished the game 3-for-6 with five RBI.
