Babe Ruth

MAY 6, 1915 — In just his 18th career at-bat, Babe Ruth crushed his first home run against the divisional rival New York Yankees. The 20-year-old Ruth connected on an underhand-pitch delivered from Jack Warhop and sent it well into the right-field stands at the Polo Grounds. Ruth finished 3-for-5 at the plate and also pitched 12 and 1/3 innings in the extra-innings loss to the Yankees.
