Heading into the second half of the 2021 MLB season, the Oakland Athletics sit six games back of the Houston Astros for the AL West Division lead and two games up on the Seattle Mariners for the final AL Wild Card position. With legitimate Postseason opportunity on the horizon, the Athletics traded their 23-year-old rookie southpaw, Jesús Luzardo, to the Miami Marlins for Starling Marte. Marte will enter the Athletics lineup with a .306 batting average and provide a much needed offensive boost along with great defensive ability in the outfield. In return, Luzardo will jump right into the Marlins pitching staff loaded with young, talented arms.
