In the bottom of the seventh inning in Monday night's contest between the Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago Cubs, Joey Votto became the fifth player in franchise history to reach the 2,000-hits mark. The 37-year-old from Toronto, Canada, attained this feat by smacking a hanging breaking-ball, delivered from Michael Rucker, up the middle for a base hit. With this knock, Votto became the second player in League history to grasp his 2,000th hit, 300th homer and 1,000th RBI all in the same season.
