The Chicago Cubs 13-4 surge over the Atlanta Braves was fueled by the bats of Willson Contreras and Kris Bryant. Contreras opened the flood gates with a solo home run in the first inning, making it his third straight game with at least one longball. The catcher also blasted another shot two innings later. Kris Bryant added a pair of homers, which marked his fourth and fifth of the season. The duo combined for nearly half of their team’s offense with six RBI.
