Nolan Ryan's career is rife with the passing of milestones and smithing of records, and on this day in 1974, Ryan struck out 19 batters in a contest between his Angels and the Boston Red Sox. Nolan Ryan fired a complete-game shutout and allowed just two runs en route to a 4-2 win. Incredibly, this was Ryan's second game of the season with 19 strikeouts.
