Spencer Torkelson

There was another first in the young career of Detroit Tigers rookie first baseman Spencer Torkelson on Wednesday afternoon. The 22-year-old showed off his top-end power in the bottom of the eighth inning, turning on a 94 MPH fastball from Boston Red Sox reliever Austin Davis, and sending it well over the outfield wall in left. A home run bat for the Tigers this season, Torkelson smashed 30 longballs across three different Minor League levels in 2021.
