Houston Astros left-handed starting pitcher Framber Valdez threw the first complete-game shutout of his Major League Baseball career in last night’s bout between his Astros and the Detroit Tigers. Additionally, this was Valdez’s 24th consecutive quality start, tying Jacob deGrom’s single-season MLB record that he set back in 2018. Valdez’s performance was noteworthy on its own, too, as he allowed just six hits over his nine innings, striking out eight Tigers batters in the process.
