The St. Louis Cardinals addressed one of their biggest needs looking ahead to the 2023 season by signing free agent catcher Willson Contreras to a five-year, $87.5 million deal. The three-time NL All-Star fills the void left by Cardinals legend Yadier Molina, who retired at the conclusion of the 2022 season. Contreras, a seven-year MLB veteran, has spent his entire professional career with the division-rival Cubs, winning a World Series championship with the Club during their 2016 Postseason run.
