The Baseball world was treated to a dandy of a matchup on Wednesday, highlighting arguably the best player in MLB against a rising pitching star. Pittsburgh Pirates hurler Paul Skenes struck first, punching out Los Angeles Dodgers headliner Shohei Ohtani on three pitches in the opening frame. Ohtani would clap back though, taking the rookie hurler deep two innings later. It was a full circle moment of sorts for SoCal native Skenes, who attended Ohtani’s home pitching debut back in 2018.
