The New York Yankees got off on the right foot to open their 2026 season thanks to Max Fried’s performance. Tossing six and 1/3 scoreless innings in a 7-0 win over San Francisco, the southpaw became the first Yankees hurler since 1996 (David Cone) to pitch at least that many shutout frames on Opening Day. “One through nine, we can beat you,” Fried said on the victory.
