Tom Seaver

APRIL 9, 1985 — “Tom Terrific” had made it a habit of getting the season’s starting nod throughout his career and, on this date, he could say he has been in the most in MLB history. The 40-year-old Seaver made his record 15th career walk to mound on Opening Day to take on the Milwaukee Brewers and turned in 6 2/3 quality innings. Allowing just two runs on five hits, Seaver and company bested Milwaukee, 4-2.
